Message from the Director

Dear Prospective students,

Welcome to the School of Health and Allied Sciences (SHAS), Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), Pokhara University (PU). Selecting a university for your educational career is one of the most important decisions that you will ever have to make. As you browse through this prospectus, I hope it will assist you to make a choice. With a vision to be a leader in the promotion of education through quality higher education, health, and community service  University has established in the year 1997 AD.

At Pokhara University, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences was initially established in 2001 which has now evolved as the School of Health and Allied Sciences since 2009 after successfully enrolling in different discipline educational programs like Medical Laboratory Sciences, Public Health, and Nursing. Currently, SHAS offers five undergraduate programs and six master-level programs under Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, and Physiotherapy disciplines. With underlying philosophy to develop ethical graduates, who will grow as individuals, gaining in self-confidence, and develop a sense of leadership SHAS is emerging as an institution of academic excellence not only in Nepal but also in Southeast Asia. The school is located in Pokhara Metropolitan City ward no. 30 Lekhnath surrounded by a beautiful Himalayas range and at a short drive from several lakes including the world-famous Fewa Lake. There are several outdoor adventure activities available that make the students truly refreshed and motivated toward learning.  In a sound and peaceful learning environment, the school is moving towards to fulfill its vision “production of skilled and qualified human resources in the field of medical and paramedical sciences”.

The school offers skills development and experience gained by employing a wide variety of teaching-learning activities like a lecture, seminars, advanced laboratory and practicals, field trips, problem-based/inquiry-based learning, projects, and research which are facilitated by modern technologies. The school puts high priority to culminate in all-rounded students ready for this dynamic society and the ever-changing job market.
